The principle of solar power generation

Solar Power Generation is a photoelectric technology that uses solar cell array to convert solar radiation energy into electric energy.

The working principle of solar cell is based on the photovoltaic effect of semiconductor PN junction. The so-called photovoltaic effect, in short, is when the object is subject to light, the distribution of electric charge in the body changes resulting in electromotive force and electric current of an effect. When sunlight or other light strikes a semiconductor PN junction, a voltage appears on either side of the junction, called photovoltage.

The solar power generation system is composed of solar panel, solar controller and Storage Battery. If the output power supply is AC 220V or 110V, you need to configure the inverter. The functions of each component are:

Solar panels: solar panels are the core and most valuable part of a solar power system. Its role is to the suns radiation into electrical energy, or sent to storage batteries stored, or to promote the work load. The quality and cost of solar panel will directly determine the quality and cost of the whole system.

Solar Controller: the role of the solar controller is to control the working state of the whole system, and to play a battery charge protection, over-discharge protection. Where the temperature difference is large, the qualified controller should also have the function of temperature compensation. Other additional functions such as optical control switch and time control switch should be optional for the controller.

Storage Battery: generally lead-acid battery, small micro-system, can also be used ni-mh Battery, ni-cd battery or lithium battery. Its function is to store the electricity generated by the solar panels when there is light, and then release it when needed.

Inverter: in many cases, need to provide 220VAC, 110VAC AC AC AC power. Because the direct output of solar energy is generally 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC. To provide power to 220VAC appliances, the DC power from the solar power generation system needs to be converted to AC power, so DC-AC inverter is needed. In some cases, DC-DC converters are also used when multiple voltage loads are required.

Advantages of photovoltaics

1. Solar energy is an inexhaustible source of clean energy, and will not be affected by the energy crisis and instability of the fuel market.

2. Solar energy is readily available, so photovoltaics is especially suitable for remote areas where there is no electricity, while reducing the loss of power from long distance grid construction and transmission lines.

3. Solar energy is produced without fuel, making it much cheaper to run.

4. Photovoltaics has no moving parts other than the tracking type, so its not easily damaged, relatively easy to install, and easy to maintain.

5. Photovoltaics is an ideal clean energy source that produces no waste, noise, greenhouse and toxic gases.

6. The construction cycle of the photovoltaics is short, the service life of the components is long, the mode of generation is flexible, and the energy recovery cycle of the power generation system is short.

Disadvantages of photovoltaics

There are two sides to every coin, and while photovoltaics has all these advantages, it also has its disadvantages:

1. Geographical distribution, seasonal changes, and day and night shifts can seriously affect the amount of electricity generated. When there is no sun, it can not be generated or the amount of electricity generated is very small, which will affect the normal use of electrical equipment.
2, the energy density is low, when the large-scale use, will occupy a large area, and will be affected by the solar radiation intensity.
3. The cost of PV system is high, the system cost is 40000 ~ 60000 yuan/kW, the initial investment is high, which restricts its wide application.
4. The average power generation hour is 1300h.
5. It is difficult to accurately predict the power output of the system.
6. Photovoltaic power takes up more land than wind power.
